Three exceptional artisanal techniques
- Using a ladle : According to this 15th-century method, the wicks are attached one by one to a metal hoop and then coated with hot wax using a ladle. This action is repeated hundreds of times by the master candlemaker. This technique is used to make large candles, up to 120 cm tall.
- The Dip Method : This method creates conical candles, thinner at the top. Cotton wicks are arranged in a U-shape on wooden sticks, fixed to frames, and then dipped into wax heated to over 70°C. The result: a bright flame and a long burn time.
- By Molding : This technique requires a thorough mastery of traditional techniques and extensive experience. It consists of reproducing complex forms (religious or decorative) using elastomer molds, before meticulous finishing and reworking by hand.
These three gestures, passed down from generation to generation, give each creation a unique authenticity and a palpable soul.
