Skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive, etc.) plays a key role in how a fragrance adheres and evolves. For example:

Dry skin: People with dry skin may find that perfumes evaporate more quickly because their skin doesn't retain fragrance molecules as well. A more intense and concentrated fragrance (eau de parfum, extrait de parfum) may be recommended.

Oily skin: Oily skin, on the other hand, can retain perfumes longer. However, the top notes can sometimes dominate, making it necessary to choose balanced fragrances with more pronounced base notes to ensure a pleasant evolution over time.

Skin pH also influences how a fragrance develops. Each person has a unique skin pH, which can be more acidic or more alkaline. This can alter the intensity and longevity of the fragrance. For example, more acidic skin can intensify certain floral or fruity notes, while more alkaline skin can accentuate woody or oriental notes.

A skin fragrance analysis is based not only on biological criteria but also on your personal preferences. It takes into account the individual's tastes in different fragrance families (floral, oriental, woody, fruity, etc.). The goal is to identify the main notes and accords that correspond to the individual's personality while ensuring that the fragrance works well with their skin.

As part of the diagnostic process, the perfumer or consultant will generally suggest testing several fragrances on specific areas of the skin (wrist, neck, behind the ears, etc.). After a few minutes or hours, the consultant will return to analyze how the fragrance develops on the skin.

The top notes (the first impressions of the fragrance) disappear quickly.

The heart notes reveal themselves after a few minutes and last a little longer.

The background notes (the notes that persist) will be analyzed at the end of the day to understand if they correspond to the desired effect.

After conducting this assessment, the perfumer or consultant will recommend a specific fragrance, taking into account all the criteria mentioned above. This fragrance will not only be suited to how aromas develop on the person's skin, but also to their personality, tastes, and intended use.
