L'Âme du Phénix (The Soul of the Phoenix) bears in its name the very history of the Spoturno house — founded by Véronique Spoturno, great-granddaughter of François Spoturno, also known as Coty, to revive a centennial legacy. The phoenix rising from its ashes: an image also reflected in the composition itself, crafted by Christopher Sheldrake on this same contrast between luminous freshness and ardent depth.
Grapefruit, lavender, and pink berries open with a nervous, slightly aromatic freshness — lavender brings a Mediterranean and slightly herbaceous dimension, grapefruit its luminous vivacity, pink berries a slight peppery sweetness. The heart shifts into warmth: lively and slightly spicy ginger, warm and slightly sweet cinnamon, spicy and slightly woody nutmeg, cedar structuring the whole with elegance — a remarkably vibrant and precise spicy accord. And the base is anchored in the deepest materials — resinous and slightly amber cistus labdanum in its most natural form, a dry and slightly smoky leather accord, a deep and dark tobacco accord, earthy patchouli, discreet vanilla — a moderate but long-lasting sillage, which evolves and reveals itself over time.
