The Exfoliating Hand Wash is the first step in the Diptyque hand care ritual — a house founded in 1961 on Boulevard Saint-Germain. A refillable bottle, designed to last, whose contents combine cleansing, gentle exfoliation, and aromatic diffusion in a single application. The gesture is simple, the result immediate: clean, smooth hands subtly fragranced with a very precise botanical and aromatic signature.
The fine grains of crushed olive stones — one of the gentlest natural exfoliants — imperceptibly settle on the skin and gently smooth it with each pass, without ever irritating. Coco-glucoside and glycerin simultaneously cleanse and moisturize. Bay leaf extract (Laurus nobilis) lightly purifies and signs the composition with a slightly spicy, very Mediterranean aromatic botanical note. The light foam forms when rinsing and leaves hands clean, smooth, and subtly fragranced with a discreet green and woody accord, ready to receive the Velvet Hand Lotion or the Rich Hand Balm.

What is the difference between this bottle and the refill?
The formula is identical. The bottle is the starting piece — refillable, designed to last. The refill (€43) allows you to prolong its use without replacing the bottle, in a sustainable approach. The bottle is a one-time purchase, the refill as often as needed.
Can it be used every day?
A maximum of once a day is the recommendation — daily micro-exfoliation is beneficial, but beyond that, the skin could become slightly sensitive. Ideally in the evening, before applying a moisturizing treatment.
How does it fit into the Diptyque hand ritual?
This is the first step: cleansing and exfoliating to prepare the skin. The Velvet Hand Lotion then takes over to hydrate and protect. And the Rich Hand Balm can be used as a night treatment for more intensive nourishment. Three steps, a complete ritual.
