    Additional information

Parfum d'Empire embodies a sensual and spiritual niche perfumery, where each creation explores eroticism and the sacred. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, an independent perfumer and doctor of plant chemistry, crafts powerful and baroque compositions. The house distinguishes itself through the richness of its raw materials and a radically free olfactory style. Between raw sensuality and French balance, each fragrance becomes an intimate conquest. Parfum d'Empire is controlled excess, the empire of the senses rediscovered.

    The freshness of a conqueror.
Citron, neroli, oakmoss — luminous, structured, irresistibly elegant.

Iskander is the Persian name for Alexander the Great — the Macedonian conqueror who, in a decade, traversed Persia, Egypt, Bactria, and India, leaving behind cities founded in his name and a transformed worldview. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, independent perfumer and doctor in plant chemistry, founder of Parfum d'Empire, does not make it a perfume of military victory — he makes it a perfume of momentum, movement, and light in motion. A citrus scent that carries within it something that moves forward.

In this Eau de Parfum concentration, the composition opens with a remarkable precision of citrus and slightly herbaceous generosity. Citron, limone, mandarin, orange, grapefruit, tarragon, and Virginian cedar create a luminous and slightly dry opening — each citrus in its sharpest and most incisive facet, tarragon bringing an unexpected herbaceous and slightly anised dimension to a citrus, Virginian cedar giving from the start a dry and slightly chalky structure that prevents the composition from ever seeming trivially fresh. It's an opening of character — generous without being heavy, lively without being fleeting. Neroli, coriander, and orange blossom then arrive at the heart in a slightly bitter and slightly vegetal floral accord of great elegance — neroli with its slightly bitter and slightly honeyed facets, creamy and slightly exotic orange blossom, coriander maintaining a discreet herbaceous tension. Oakmoss, amber, and musk settle in the base in a woody and slightly resinous foundation that gives the composition all its depth and persistence — slightly earthy oakmoss, warm and enveloping amber, musk lingering on the skin hours after the citrus notes have evaporated. Iskander is a long-lasting citrus scent — and that is its true singularity.

Iskander is the perfume for those who know that the most memorable lightness always has depth.

    A word from Maison Diaphane

Iskander is the Parfum d'Empire fragrance we recommend for spring and summer, or as an introduction to the house for those not yet ready for the intensity of Aziyadé or Ambre Russe. The tarragon in the opening is the note that immediately distinguishes this citrus from others — a slightly anised herbaceous dimension not found in classic fresh scents. And the oakmoss base gives it a longevity and depth that lighter citrus scents never achieve.

    Learn more about Iskander +

Iskander Eau de Parfum by Parfum d'Empire is a unisex citrus fragrance created by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato — independent perfumer, doctor in plant chemistry and founder of Parfum d'Empire. Inspired by Alexander the Great — Iskander in Persian — it explores citrus freshness in its most luminous and structured version: seven citrus fruits and herbs in the opening, neroli and orange blossom at the heart, oakmoss and amber at the base. Available at Maison Diaphane, official retailer in Angers, for €122. Free delivery from €100 (in France).

Its olfactory pyramid revolves around a neroli-orange blossom-coriander heart that is slightly bitter and vegetal floral, preceded by a luminous, dry and slightly herbaceous citron-grapefruit-tarragon opening, and extended by a woody, discreet and persistent oakmoss-amber-musk base. In Eau de Parfum, the composition unfolds all its structured citrus freshness and lasts 5 to 7 hours.

Iskander is a luminous and structured citrus fragrance with a discreet sillage, ideal for spring and summer during the day, worn by both women and men.

Why the name Iskander — what's the connection to Alexander the Great?

Iskander is the Persian transcription of Alexander's name — Alexandros in Greek — transmitted through Eastern languages since the conquests of the 4th century BC. This name evokes an energy of momentum and light, a presence that crosses spaces. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato associates it with a citrus — the most luminous and fresh olfactory family — as if the freshness of citrus was the olfactory translation of this conquering drive. A fragrance that moves forward, carried by light.

What is tarragon in perfumery and why is it so rare in citrus fragrances?

Tarragon — Artemisia dracunculus — is an aromatic plant with slightly anised, slightly herbaceous, and slightly vegetal facets. It is common in cooking but extremely rare in perfumery, and almost non-existent in classic citrus scents. In Iskander, it appears in the opening to provide a herbaceous tension that immediately distinguishes this composition from conventional synthetic citrus notes. It is what gives the opening its slightly wild character and its characteristic vegetal dryness.

What's the difference between the three Parfum d'Empire citrus fragrances — Iskander, Acqua di Scandola, and Azemour les Orangers?

Azemour les Orangers is the most generous and sunniest — ten citrus fruits and spices, orange blossom, henna in the base. Southern richness. Acqua di Scandola is the most mineral and marine — citrus, seaweed, rock hyrax. Coastal Corsica. Iskander is the most elegant and structured — precise citrus, neroli, oakmoss. Lightness with depth. Three radically different citrus scents in their direction: generosity, nature, elegance.

Which season is Iskander made for?

Mainly spring and summer, during the day. Its citrus freshness and discreet sillage make it an ideal fragrance for the office, lunch on a terrace, and active, bright days. In mild autumn, the oakmoss base gives it the necessary depth for cooler days. It is the most appropriate Parfum d'Empire fragrance for daily summer wear.
