La Closerie des Parfums, founded by Valérie Madrid, trained at Cinquième Sens, chooses another path with Oud Safran: restraint as a form of intensity. An oriental that asserts itself through precision rather than excess, allowing each material to express itself fully without ever stifling it.
In this Eau de Parfum concentration, the composition opens with a luminous and slightly powdery warmth. Rose and saffron establish a spicy and slightly floral tension from the very first seconds — dry and slightly metallic saffron, softened by the rose with its fleshy, golden sweetness. This is not a sweet opening — it's a vibrant opening, almost austere in its precision. Cistus, labdanum, and cedar then arrive in the heart as a resinous, structured, and deep material. Cistus brings an amber and slightly woody warmth, labdanum an animalic and slightly honeyed resin, cedar a dry and angular structure that prevents the accord from ever feeling soft. Cypriol, patchouli, sandalwood, and musk settle in the base with a woody depth of remarkable density and persistence — cypriol, also known as nagarmotha, contributes its slightly earthy and smoky facets that are the signature of great niche orientals.
