Pistachio Cousin is the least expected gourmand from the house founded by Philippe Di Méo — no dominant vanilla, no excessive sugar. The pistachio here is vegetal and slightly green, almost fresh. A pistachio as you bite into it, not as you eat it in ice cream.
The opening is lively and bright — pistachio, bergamot, lemon, orange, and elemi, several of which are from upcycled materials. A slightly crisp and slightly resinous freshness. The black lime at the heart — a Middle Eastern ingredient with slightly smoky and slightly fermented facets — brings a strange and seductive dimension, combined with petitgrain and neroli. And the base gently settles — patchouli, vetiver, Australian sandalwood, akigalawood, musk — a creamy and slightly earthy woody base that extends the pistachio in an enveloping and soothing direction.
