La Closerie des Parfums is a French house founded by Valérie Madrid — a perfumer trained at the Cinquième Sens school — with a precise vision: to marry the elegance of Parisian gardens with the intensity of noble materials from elsewhere. Cacao Pimento is perhaps the composition that best expresses what the house is about — a reconciliation between two worlds that seem to oppose each other. Sweetness, on the one hand. Burning, on the other. And in the middle, a tension that is never quite resolved.
In this Eau de Parfum concentration, the composition immediately strikes with an incandescent warmth. Pimento — Jamaican pepper with facets that are at once spicy, clove-like, and slightly sweet — asserts itself from the opening, accompanied by rum, bergamot, and saffron in a warm and slightly liqueur-like accord of electric vivacity. This is not an opening that coddles — it ignites. Craftivity white cocoa, blond tobacco, and cinnamon leaf then arrive in the heart in a melting and sensual texture — the white cocoa here is treated using an artisanal method that preserves its creamy sweetness and aromatic complexity that conventional roasted cocoa does not possess. Blond tobacco accompanies it with a dry and slightly honeyed warmth. Cinnamon leaf, more vegetal than bark, brings a green and slightly camphorated dimension that extends the composition. Upcycled sandalwood, tonka, coffee, and immortelle settle in the base in a dark and woody depth of remarkable persistence — coffee supports without ever dominating, immortelle brings that slightly honeyed vegetal warmth that is its signature, sustainably sourced sandalwood envelops the whole in a creamy sweetness.
