Unloved – Scent of Empire
An ode to free-ranging grasses, to untamed vegetation.
With Mal-Aimé , Marc-Antoine Corticchiato overturns botanical and olfactory hierarchies. He celebrates "weeds," those that grow without permission but with grace, as an act of resistance in the heart of the maquis.
Fleabane , used here as a unifying thread, immediately establishes its luminous greenness. A wild, green opening, softened by a discreetly fruity wild blackberry . Then come nettle , thistle , and the noble iris root , in a tangle of roots, sap, and foliage.
But the soul of the perfume is the sweet elecampane – this full-bodied flower, never used in fine perfumery, which gives the sillage a unique vibration: musky, saline, a little honeyed, intensely vegetal.
