Javanese vetiver is different from others — earthier, more herbaceous, less smoky than Haitian vetiver, less mineral than that from Reunion Island. The house founded by Jérôme Di Marino chose Garut, in the highlands of West Java, to anchor this composition in a precise location. Here, vetiver is not just one note among many — it is a destination.
The opening is lively and aromatic — grapefruit, lime, cardamom, and tarragon, this slightly aniseed herb which gives the top notes a rare and very elegant herbaceous dimension. Geranium arrives alone in the heart, subtly rosy and subtly green, bridging the gap between the aromatic freshness and the depth of the base. And then vetiver settles in — dry, slightly earthy — supported by red pepper that brings a slight spicy warmth, oakmoss that adds depth, and amberwood that gives the whole a soft, woody hold.
