Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, independent perfumer and doctor in plant chemistry, founder of Parfum d'Empire, rejects this ease. Eau de Gloire is an aromatic that begins in light and ends in complexity — a composition that takes time to reveal itself, that changes profoundly between the opening and the drydown, and that leaves a much denser trail on the skin than its first seconds suggest.
In this Eau de Parfum concentration, the composition opens with an aromatic and slightly citrusy generosity. Lavender, bergamot, rosemary, myrtle, limone, tangerine and neroli build a fresh, clean and slightly camphorated opening — lavender and rosemary bring their aromatic familiarity, Mediterranean myrtle its slightly floral and slightly resinous facets, citrus fruits their luminous vibrancy and neroli its slightly bitter floral sweetness. It's a generous, immediately accessible opening — and one that doesn't hint at what's to come. Star anise, immortelle, tea, and licorice then arrive in the heart in an aromatic material of unexpected complexity and warmth — star anise with its slightly sweet and slightly spicy anise facets, immortelle with its golden and slightly medicinal signature, tea bringing a refined slight bitterness, licorice with its distinctive camphorated sweetness. Leather, tobacco, oakmoss, olibanum, and cistus settle in the base in a dark, textured, and persistent depth — dry and elegant leather, slightly smoky tobacco, oakmoss with its forest dampness, olibanum that elevates.
