Monarque, an independent ready-to-wear brand in Angers, entrusted Diaphane Projects with the creation of its olfactory signature: a warm, amber, and assertive fragrance, designed to extend the brand's uncompromising allure through scent.
How to translate the powerful, elegant, and uncompromising world of Monarque, an independent ready-to-wear brand committed to assertive fashion, into a fragrance? This was the challenge taken up by Diaphane Projects, alongside the designer, to imagine an olfactory signature capable of extending the Monarque allure into the very atmosphere of the boutique.
A fragrance reflecting the Monarque woman
It needed a warm, noble, free note — a fragrance that evokes luxurious materials, structured cuts, precise lines, and the soul of the butterfly, the brand's symbol. Very quickly, the composition became clear: an amber base combined with a cognac accord that provides depth and radiance, enhanced by a unique patchouli that sculpts the whole. The result: a magnetic, addictive, and intensely assertive fragrance, a perfect reflection of the Monarque universe.
"Thanks to Diaphane Projects, our Monarque boutique has finally found its olfactory signature. Marie-Sophie perfectly understood our request, with professionalism, attentiveness, and insight. A big thank you!"

Why a fashion brand needs an olfactory signature
An independent ready-to-wear boutique builds a strong visual identity: choice of materials, layout, selection of pieces, highlighting of collections. But this identity often remains sensorially silent, even though clothing is an object that one touches, tries on, and wears against oneself.
An olfactory signature fills this gap: it adds a soul to the shopping experience, reinforces the coherence between what one sees and what one feels, and transforms a visit to the boutique into a complete brand experience. For a house like Monarque, which champions assertive and uncompromising fashion, fragrance becomes a logical extension of this positioning.
A sensory experience that extends the Monarque style
In the boutique, the fragrance is now an integral part of the experience. It welcomes customers from their first steps, accompanies the touch of materials, reinforces the presence of silhouettes, and leaves an imprint as strong as visual. This coherence between clothing and atmosphere embodies Monarque's singularity: a complete identity, thought out in every detail.
This link between textile and olfactory is no coincidence: a noble material, a refined cut, an amber and structured fragrance each tell, in their own way, the same exacting story. It is this global coherence that builds a strong and recognizable brand image.
Diffusion: a presence that dresses the boutique as much as the clothes
In a fashion store, the diffusion of an ambient fragrance must contend with a particular environment: fitting rooms, fabrics that absorb odors, aisles, and waves of customers who succeed one another throughout the day. A fragrance that is too discreet gets lost in the ambient noise; a fragrance that is too present risks interfering with customers' personal perfumes or the natural smell of the materials.
For Monarque, the diffusion was designed to establish an assertive presence without ever becoming overwhelming — consistent with a fragrance itself built on the balance between strength and elegance. The fragrance accompanies wandering through the boutique without ever imposing itself during fittings, allowing each piece its full place.
When fragrance becomes a vector of loyalty
A successful olfactory signature doesn't just dress a present moment: it becomes etched in memory and, over time, becomes a recognizable landmark among thousands. A customer who finds this same amber note when pushing the door immediately knows they are at Monarque, even before having seen a single piece.
This olfactory reflex, built visit after visit, directly contributes to loyalty: it creates a familiarity, comfort, and recognition that go beyond the simple act of purchase to establish a true brand relationship.
A signature designed with the creator, not imposed on the brand
The strength of this collaboration also lies in its method: the fragrance was not chosen from a catalog, but built with the creator herself, based on her universe, her inspirations, and the story of the butterfly that gives the house its name. Each choice — amber, cognac, patchouli — responds to a precise intention rather than a fleeting trend.
It is this bespoke approach, rather than a generic perfume applied to any business, that distinguishes a true olfactory identity from a simple scented diffuser. For an independent house like Monarque, it is also a way of asserting its unique character against more standardized brands.
